I bought a reasonably cheap bicycle last week, i bought it to do excercise on only. I am quite a big guy, and the tyres appear as if there flat all the time, i pump them up to the max but then they still go flat whilest im riding making it really hard to ride. is there anything i can do? bigger tyres etc?
thanks

hi, you never said what the wheel size is,

like if your riding a racer with 27"1/4 wheels you may be best suited to a mountain bike, the side wall of the tyres are thicker,

Not sure of the name, but a german company came up with a new style of tube for people who are over weight,

you put the inner tube in the bike and where the valve is you have a can of this special stuff, you inflate the tyre with that, it sets to a solid rubber, up size you never get a puncher, down side when the time comes to replace the Tyre, you have to cut the lot off

maybe a yahoo search you can find the company that sell this stuff, bet it is not cheap.

good luck

As it was a cheap bike then it is probably an old bike which has been standing around for perhaps years. Suggest you change the inner tubes of he tyre as this could be perished and has become porous.

If the tyres are hard when you are not on the bike and become flat only when you sit on it then you are really too heavy for the bike.

If it is a mountain bike style and you have chunky tyres on it then it is impossible to pump them up to the desired pressure by hand (40psi) and you should go to a petrol station and use the air line. The valves should be schroder types as on a car.

Hope this helps.

If it is a 27 inch road tire yes. A 27 1 1/8 might also fit your rim. The tubes will read 27 1 1/8- 27 1 1/4.

New tyres and tubes should fix this for you.

Solid rubber tyres?

I mean they exist on kids bikes

You might have a puncture. Get slime tubes. This should help.

check the innertubes they could have a slow leak in them..
