New chain. Is it the chain that won't move or other parts too? Time for a mechanic at a bike shop to take a look.

There is no fix for that. You will have to cut it with some kind of bolt cutter, see the link.

If you don't have one of those and don't want to invest in one just for this one time, I wouldn't try a saw unless you can hold the chain on a vise or similar. You could use a chisel propping the chain on a block of wood or a cement block. Try bending it sideways to a sharp angle, that will be cheaper cos doesn't require tools.

If the chain is that rusty, chances are that you will need new sprockets as well. Check if the wheel can spin or you need a freewheel and/or bearings, maybe even a BB.

just break, cut it off

hacksaw, twist it til it breaks, etc

new chains are only about $15

the other question is, what else got rusted or full of water?

bearings.. etc;/...

first roll the bike and see if everything else is working, is it worth @#$ing with at all?

does it shift gears, brakes, wheels work?

most likely prob is that derailleurs are rusted stuck

you may be able to move them and they will be ok with oil etc

if things work, then get a new chain

and a chain tool to put it on with

later you may experience early failure of wheel bearings if they got rusted and you ride it anyway

or cables may become sticky with rust inside and not work well

You need a chain tool, also known as a chain breaker, and a new chain. Once a chain is as rusty as you describe it is beyond saving.

Time to buy a new chain.

Edit:

A chain breaker will break a rusted chain. You will need it to cut the new chain anyway.

If it's that rusted then about all you can do is cut it with bolt-cutters or a hacksaw.

Throw it away and buy a new one.
