Set it up about 1 inch below the right brake pad. Set you wheel size at 2075 if your wheel is 26x2.35.
Remember that the magnet should run through the middle of the receiver, and must be almost touching to pick it up.

I would set it as close to the center of the wheel (the hub) as I could get it, while ensuring the magnet and pickup clear each other (barely). Several reasons for this:
1. The velocity of the magnet past the detector is slower, the closer to the center of the wheel it is; this reduces the chance of missing rotations (incorrect speed detection).
2. On a mountain bike (which you appear to have based on tire size) this keeps the magnet and detector as far away from mud and dirt as possible.
3. Minimizes inertial effect of the magnet (not a significant issue unless you're a weight weenie).
To calibrate the computer to your bike/tires, you can either use the estimated circumference of the tire (usually expressed in millimeters, but check your computer's instructions to verify) or you can measure out the actual circumference by rolling the bike from a fixed point on the pavement one full revolution, marking where the wheel stops. (I use the valve stem as an indicator, and mark on the pavement with chalk). Do this whilst putting some weight on the wheel to simulate actual riding conditions. Measure between the two points and, voila, the proper circumference for your actual tire (not an average that the computer manufacturer gives you).
Good luck

You want to find a place on the fork where the magnet on the spokes and pickup can be close enough to read. You can set the pick up so it is at a slight angle ( not straight on toward the wheel )that will allow you to fine tune the distance.
To set up the computer read the directions, the circumference for your wheel can be found here. I have several bikes and several computers. I wrote down the circumference on the computer and on the holder so I can tell which one goes with what bike and I aways have the number if I need to change the battery.
set it to 2120 or pump tyre up to recomended pressure , run the wheel over a flat surface for one revolution say from valve at the bottom to valve at bottom, measure the distance in cm and this is the measurement to set into your computer, but if thats a problem set the 2120.
