Question:
which is the better bicycle? A new Schwinn Midmoor or a 2007 KHS TC 150?

I am looking for a "comfort" bicycle for daily 20 - 30 mile rides. I have been looking at bikes and had decided on a new Schwinn Midmoor, which I can purchase for about $220 plus tax. However, I recently came across an offer to purchase a used (2007) KHS TC-150 for about the same price as the Schwinn. A new KHS TC-150 would run about $450 so I'm wondering if it would be a better value to purchase the KHS, assuming it is in very good condition. I don't know much about bikes so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure that a comfort bike is the best choice at all. On a 30 mile ride, sitting straight upright might not be all that comfortable, a hybrid with a less upright sitting position would allow you to carry a bit more of your weight with your arms and would also place more of the weight over the pedals for more efficient pedaling. The position would also be more aerodynamic when you were facing a headwind. Comfort bikes are designed for somewhat shorter rides, under 20 miles. As for the price of the KHS, pretty hard to tell without knowing how much it has been used, and if it is the right size for you. For a 30 mile ride you need to make sure you buy a bike that is the right frame size, nothing is worse than spending hours on a bike that doesn't fit, discomfort and even injury can result.

Actually - neither bike would be good for a commute of 20 to 30 miles per day. "Comfort" bicycles are for shorter trips (One to Ten miles - tops). But...if I had to choose - the KHS!!! This link...

The Schwinn Midmoor is a discount store & Amazon.com "Bicycle Shaped Object". Even though it uses 700C road tires which will roll easier - it uses inferior parts & only has 24 spokes per wheel. Those wheels & hubs just won't take it very long before needing to be replaced. The KHS uses a full 36 spokes per wheel on what appears to possibly be double walled rims. Much stronger.

Schwinn still makes some fine bikes - sold through REAL bicycle shops only. The ones on Amazon.com & sold through discount stores are pure junk.

I would rather have a shop quality bike like the KHS then a department store bike like the Midmoor. If you are riding bike paths for exercise they will be ok. If you are using the bike as a commuter you want a road bike instead they are much faster and efficient. Just make sure the bike is the correct size.
