Question:
Is anyone else greasing up their bike chains? Ready for the good first ride of Spring?

Mine's in the livingroom after a long, cold, snowy, windy winter in the basement!

If so, where are you planning on going? I'm going up to the lake with my trusty PB and J and a gingerale!

My bike lived in the spare bedroom last winter attached to a trainer. I'm getting ready to remove it from the trainer this weekend and hope to start my commute to work soon. I've got my light all charged up and everything is adjusted. We still have a foot of snow here in N.W. PA but I think it will be gone in a week or so.

Still got 6-12inches of snow on the ground. Bu it's back in the mid-30s so this stuff should be gone in the next few weeks. Hoping to be on the road by March 25 (first ride last year -- I wait a little while to give the roads some time to dry out and cut down on cleanup time).

First TT will be April 6 in northern Ill.

There is now blinding light at the end of the tunnel!

Finally getting nice again here in NE Arizona. Lots of snow this year. I did a 27 mile loop on some dirt roads up in the mountains two weeks ago, and it was WAY too wet. Ended up walking about six miles, as the leftover snow/mud was too deep for the CX bike, even with 44's on. Did a ride down in the lower country today, as it's dried out considerably. 11 or 12 miles on the pavement and 20 on the dirt. Man, am I out of shape!

Good Riding

Just got back from my first jaunt of the year today as its a balmy 44 degrees here in S. Minnesota. First went to the shop to get a rear fender and thought I'd take my MTB out for a short spin as I plan to start riding her to work starting tomorrow morning. I put on an old set of wheels and went down the block...I saw our 2 mi. hiking/biking trail wasnt snow.covered, so I took that until I was about at the end of it and had some fun riding over/thru drifted over areas. I was enjoying myself so much I decided to head out around the lake and before ya know it, I'd done 10 miles. Man it's great to be back out on the beast again !

Because it's still new and under warranty, I took my bike back to the shop and let them tune it up. We've had one freaky day of tolerable weather, so the team got out for an easy 60 mile ride on fairly flat terrain. It worked to get the cobwebs out. The big plans are for several centuries this summer and fall with one double century next winter in Florida.

Supposed to be nice this weekend. See you on the roads.

Haha, you fair weather cyclists. I ride all the year round even in the snow on one of my road bikes. This spring I needed to get a new chain as the old one was stretched by nearly half an inch though it wasn't slipping any.

My first longer ride come spring will be 40 miles on the road out to Cambridge England & back.

Though I do have a relaxing touring stint on the West coast of France in early May to look forward to.
