Hi' Goth,

Well done on completing the South Downs. Now, how about doing the C2C (Coast to Coast)? Its about 140 miles, starting from the Irish Sea, through the beautiful Lake District, up into the glorious Cumbrian and Northumbrian hills, and then down again into Newcastle or Sunderland and the North Sea.

You can dip your wheels in the Irish Sea in Workington at the start and then in the North Sea in Newcastle at the end.

I do the ride every year (its that good) and I take two days. The first day is a killer - I sleep over in Alston and that's immediately after Hartside, the worst climb on the whole route - a killer when you've already done about 75 miles! But you can easily do it in 3 days if you prefer.

Have a great ride.

The C2C is managed by the Sustrans people and they do loads of other great routes too - go here:

Try downhilling, on a mountain bike with no suspension.
