i like the chinese ones from ebay
i find they work well
one other trick is, get a separate can of the glue for about $8
it has a lid and wont; leak out and evaporate like a tube
yuo can also go to a car tire store and say 'please let me have or sell me some car tire patch / plug glue'
i also tend to cut the patches into tiny pieces, like about 6 pieces per normal patch
\
they work just as well
as long as it covers the hole
it;s really not that hard if you sand it off around the hole, use fresh glue, and let it dry, then press the patch on pretty hard - roll it on with a spoon or glass bottle or something
the peel and stick patches never work
if you get flats often you might want to mark the hole locations on the wheel itself
if you get more than 2 in the same place, you may have a prob with your wheel
like a sharp piece inside it
or the rim strip is moved over or bad
