First determine what type of chain you have, Shimano Hyper-glide, Sram or other. They also make a PC-991R Hollow, I say this because you will have too have replacement pins or a powerlink (masterlink ) to connect the chain after you remove your links.

Purchase a chain breaker (Park Chain Tool ) or other at your local bike shop and remove pins in your chain for number of links to be removed, Install masterlink that also has to match your type of chain and reinstall chain on your bike.

Remember Matching your chain with your masterlink is important, depending on the number of speeds and spacing of your cassette is it could be standard or Narrow type chain and it has to match or your chain will jump gears.

you need a chain break tool. cheap ones cost about $15, but if you have he bank, get a park tool for $35, they are indestructible.

to use it, put the chain onto the tool (pretty self explanitory) and turn the arm until the pin contacts the rivet on the chain. turn slowly but dont push the rivet all the way through! pull the pin back out, bend the chain a little (side to side) and the chain will come apart. the end with the wider links should still have the rivet in it.

to put it back together, do the same in reverse. dont do this too many times, as it does damage the chain, thats why most new chains come with a "master link" that slides apart instead.

if you dont get it, dont worry, they come with instructions. if you want to buy one, i suggest you order it from a bike shop (unless they have one in stock). if you order it through them, you wont have to pay shipping.

I am not sure what a "push bike" is, but I searched the web and it seems to be a normal bicycle. If so:

Use a "chain break tool". Here is a good one, for about $8 plus shipping:

Here are great instructions, with pictures:

a file or small grinding tool (one that can be used in an electric drill). a vise would be good, but not absolutely necessary. a flat-type screwdriver. possibly a hammer and a small punch. pliers.

disconnect master link, if it has one. file or grind off the flattened pin(s). pry or knock off the side of the link. remove the other side of the link and reconnect with the master link.

if it doesnt have a master link, you will need to buy one or maybe buy an offset link, to put it back together. auto parts stores sell them.

Use a chain tool such as park tool or topeak multi-tool isn't to hard and you can amaze your friends that you know how to use tools.
