I have my measurements, what size bike should I get?

Id feel kind of guilty if I went to a bike shop to size a bike for myself- but end up not buying one... :P

I am 5'11 tall, and my inseam is a 32'.

I think I'd be riding a 58cm bike- is that about correct? Or would I be generally okay to ride bikes 56-60cm?

The reason I ask is cus I am looking at bikes on craigs list, but I want to know if the frames are going to even fit me before I go over to test ride it :)

As bicycle frame sizes are NOT universal from one company to the next - TRY B4 you BUY. It's as simple as that. In brand (A) you may take a 56cm frame. In brand (B) you may take a 58cm frame. You're in the ballpark though.



My 2009 Schwinn Fastback has frame sizes listed only as small, medium, large & extra-large. I ride a large at 5' 10" tall. My 2011 Raleigh Sojourn is listed as a 55cm frame size - small/medium. Go figure. (???)

Let's see. I am 1 inch shorter than you. I have 4 road bikes. My touring bike is a 57 cm. One road bike is a 56 cm, the other is a 55 cm. My time trial bike is a size small. Get the picture? Bike sizes vary, not all companies measure them the same way or have the same frame geometry. You have to measure them for yourself and test ride to be sure

Have the bike shop help you the same size frame will be different from each manufacturer. You want to be able to stand over the frame and have 1-2 inches of clearance.

yeah, sounds right to me . I'm 6' 1 3/4 '' with, I think about 34 'inseam' - plus I ride 175 cranks - my road bikes are from 23.5 to 24.5 inch, or 60 to 62 cm.

That sounds like you've picked out the right size range there, you can always tweak and adjust the reach etc once you've got the bike.
